Our Mission:

To Lead All on to a Path of Christ Centered Discipleship. At Mentor UMC it is our mission to help Youth & Young Adults figure out what their beliefs are in a fun, comfortable environment where they can learn alongside their peers. Our hope is that they will form lasting friendships, become leaders, and be able to take their faith beyond the walls of the church building. We want to make a space where they are Learning and Living the Love of Christ every day!

UPCOMING EVENTS

Juneteenth Outing

Young Adults are invited to a Juneteenth outing in Cleveland on Friday, June 19th. Join us for a walking tour ($25) of Lakeview Cemetery at 10:30 AM and a visit to the Cozad-Bates house (FREE) at 12:30 PM to discover Ohio's role in the underground railroad and abolition. You can RSVP to our signup online here but we recommend registering directly on Canalway's website for the walking tour ($25). These tours fill up fast!

Garage Sale Day

Young Adults are invited to a Garage Sale outing in our community on Saturday, July 11th. We'll meet around 10 AM to get a start, carpooling together to nearby sales. Spending money is not required.

Renaissance Faire Outing

ALL are invited to a Ren Faire Outing on Sunday, July 12th. We will leave church at 1:30 PM or meet around 2:15 at fair. Costumes encouraged by not required! The theme is mythical beasts & creatures. Cost is $25 per adult (13+) or $10 per child (5-12 year olds) Please let Mackalyn know if you need help with cost. Young Adult Retreat

ALL Young Adults are encouraged to journey to Niagara Falls for a day of spirit-filled connection and adventure on Saturday, August 8th. Bring money for extra snacks or souvenirs. Register online here.

Youth Group

On break for summer! Join us again in the fall as we begin a new type of Youth Group where we meet once a month for activities, skill-building, and fellowship.

Youth Sunday School

Grades 6-12 are invited to Sunday School during the 9 AM worship service each Sunday. We’ll meet in the Youth room for fellowship & fun.

Gaming Group

Join this intergenerational group on Wednesdays at 5 PM in the Youth Room to play Dungeons & Dragons (no experience necessary). If there is another game you are interested in seeing at MUMC, get in touch with Mackalyn. There are opportunities for card, board, or video games. ALL are welcome in this space!

Vacation Bible School

Sign up online to HELP with VBS. Parents are encouraged to help and YOUTH (grades 7-12) can volunteer as well. Get in touch with Pastor Tammy if you have any questions.

Get Out Doors (G.O.D.) Camp

Completed grades 5 & 6 are welcome to join in a week of adventure from June 22nd to 26th. We'll meet at local parks for activities, devotions, and building lasting relationships. We'll get back at the church by 4 PM. The cost is $75 per student. Register online here.

Theatre Arts Camp presents "Peter Pan Jr."

Auditions have already taken place but there are openings in the ensemble Students (completed grades 1 - 8) are welcome to participate in TAC on the weeks of July 6th-10th AND 13th-17th. We'll meet at the church from 9 AM to 12 PM for rehearsal, set design, and fun! The cost is $100 per CAST MEMBER (completed grades 1 - 8), $70 per CREW MEMBER (completed grades 6 - 8), and $0 per TAC High School Volunteer (completed grades 9 - 12). Register online here.

Middle School Mission Week

Middle School aged students are invited to join us for Middle School Mission Week from July 20th to 24th. We'll meet at MUMC in the morning then venture to a local organization or location for missions. We return back to the church around 4 PM. Register online here. East Ohio Camps

EOC is a great summer opportunity for youth participants and young adult volunteers. These camps include Camp Aldersgate, Camp Wanake, and Camp Asbury.

Youth Service Project

The Youth Service Project Mission is an annual trip in the summer where students and volunteers visit and assist a family or area in need. To learn more about their upcoming trip, fundraisers, and registration, please visit the YSP page.

Internships

Our church is a learning church for vocation, in addition to spirituality and theology. Vocation is where our deep gladness meets one of the world’s greatest needs. Our internship program can help young adults discern what that looks like for them. We offer internship opportunities in Communications, Youth Ministry, Worship Arts, Pastoral internships, Environmental/Ecotheology internships, and other ideas that we discern and create together! General Board of Higher Education and Ministry

GBHEM offers financial aid to United Methodist students pursuing undergrad or graduate degrees in the United States and world-wide. Visit their website to learn more and apply.

Confirmation

Confirmation is for Grades 8 and up and takes place October – May. This is a great opportunity for young people who wish to deepen their faith and understanding of Christianity and Methodism. Reach out to Mackalyn to learn more.
