Luncheon: You, Me, and Mentor UMC

New friends and visitors are invited to the next You, Me and Mentor UMC Luncheon on Sunday, January 18th in Wesley Room from 12:45 - 2:00 PM. This luncheon is a great way for people to get to know each other, the pastors, and learn about Mentor UMC. This is a free lunch and dietary restrictions will be accommodated.

For those interested in learning even more, there will be a New Beginnings class on Saturday, January 24th in the Asbury Room from 1:00 - 3:30 PM. This is a great class for those interested in learning more about church membership. Reach out to a pastor with questions.

StrengthsFinder Study 2026

All are invited to join the upcoming StrengthsFinder study here at MUMC. The goal of this group is to empower you in your relationships, passions, and spirituality through understanding your strengths. We’ll meet on Sundays for five weeks (Jan 18, 25; Feb 1, 8, 15) from 12:30 - 2:00 PM. Register online or talk to Pastor Tammy at tpalermo@mentorumc.org.


In order to take the StrengthsFinder assessment, you will need to purchase the book WITH an unused code (around $28). You can find books on Amazon, Christianbook.com, and more places. Please complete the StrengthsFinder assessment no later than Friday, January 16th.

Mentor United Methodist Church is looking for individuals to fill two part-time roles. Both of these positions support the Lead Facility Specialist, Tony Goody, in looking after the building through various tasks. Part-Time Janitorial Cleaner
The person in this position should be uniquely responsible for supporting the Lead Facility Specialist in providing cleaning services, upkeep and care of the interior spaces of the facility. The Part-Time Janitorial Cleaner serves the members of Mentor UMC as the primary contact person among congregational members, community members, business affiliates and visitors relative to the facility and cleaning matters of the Church. Additionally, the Janitorial Cleaner will work collaboratively with coworkers, such as the Facility Specialist, Church staff, congregation members, volunteers, business affiliates, visitors and other Mentor UMC leaders. The Janitorial Cleaner will collaboratively contribute to a positive-working atmosphere in a team-based setting that supports the Church’s mission.


Minimum hours/week: 10 (Likely hours/week: 12-15)
Maximum hours/week: 20


The rate of pay range: $16.50 - $18.50/per hour, depending upon qualifications

Part-Time Assistant Facility Specialist

Bread, Broth, Brownies, & Bingo

Bread, Broth, Brownies, & Bingo - This event is hosted by Mentor United Women in Faith.


Baby, it’s chilly outside, so come join us for a hearty chili lunch with a hot cocoa bar and some warm, friendly competition playing table games! Cornbread, salad, and confetti brownies round out the menu. We hope you will join us on Wednesday, January 14th at noon in the MUMC Gallery! This event is hosted by Mentor United Women in Faith. Open Table: Monthly Dinners



This monthly event is open to all and FREE! Join us in the Gallery at MUMC for food, fellowship, and fun from 5:30 to 7 PM every second Thursday of the month. We’ll eat from 5:30 PM to 6 PM then enjoy different programming (fun) each month. If you are in choir or a committee, feel free to have dinner with us then meet with your group! RSVP online here.

Charles Wright Day Trip

Join Pastor Tammy and others on a day trip to the Charles Wright Museum in Detroit on Friday, February 6th through the East Ohio Conference.


The Charles Wright museum, or “The Wright”, is an African American History museum dedicated to exploring and celebrating the rich cultural legacy of African Americans (thewright.org)


DETAILS and SCHEDULE:
The East Ohio Conference is sponsoring a day at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History in Detroit, Michigan. You are invited to meet at and ride a charter bus from Mentor United Methodist Church, North Olmsted United Methodist Church, or Sylvania First United Methodist Church to the museum. Together, we will spend the day learning, meeting new friends, and fellowshipping. Lunch will be served on the bus. January 30 is the deadline to register for this opportunity.


Schedule for the Day:

8:00 a.m. – Pickup at Mentor UMC, 8600 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060

9:00 a.m. – Pickup at North Olmsted UMC, 4600 Dover Center Rd., North Olmsted, OH 44070

10:45 a.m. – Pickup at Sylvania First UMC, 7000 Erie St., Sylvania, OH 43560

11:00 a.m. – Lunch on the bus

12:00 p.m. – Arrive at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History

3:30 p.m. – Depart the museum

4:30 p.m. – Drop-off at Sylvania First UMC

6:00 p.m. – Drop-off at North Olmsted UMC

7:00 p.m. – Drop-off at Mentor UMC
